Our History

The Old King’s Head has had a rich history over the 400 years it has stood in Kirton and is a distinctive building that is cherished by local people.

The building stands at the heart of village life, which would historically have been the third largest settlement in the county and a lively and affluent place to live. Over its lifetime it has seen landlords, owners and tenants come and go, each bringing their own adaptions to the building, creating memories within its walls.

Restoration Rescue

Heritage Lincolnshire, the Buildings Preservation Trust for the county, came to the building's rescue in 2016 as the building stood proud, but vulnerable to irreparable damage. Through fundraising and grants the Trust raised enough money to purchase the building and carry out the extensive restoration works that have been ongoing since February 2019.  The building now fully restored and transformed into a 9 bedroom B&B, Café and Function Room has been open since 1st October 2021.
